The Macedonian Collection at Widener Library of Harvard University holds circulating volumes of general and popular fiction and non-fiction books, periodicals, and videos in Macedonian language. The size of the collection in Macedonian language alone is approximately 7,000 volumes.
Relevant materials (on the subject of Macedonia) in various foreign languages in other formats (e.g., maps, prints, videos and computer files), are also held by several specialized Harvard libraries (Law Library, Loeb Music Library, etc.).
One of our former vendors, Mirče Nešovski, is a famous Macedonian poet. Due to him our collection contains materials that cover poetic life in Macedonia, including a traditional event “Poetska noќ vo Velestovo”.
The President of Macedonia delivered a public address at the Law School titled, "Macedonia - Integration Without Assimilation Through Respecting of Diversity."
On September 24, 2012 President of Macedonia visited Widener to officially donate a brand new state-sponsored collection of “Macedonian Literature in English Translation” to the library. To see materials in that collection, click here.
