by Max des Vignons. Paris : Librairie Artistique/P. Brenet, Editeur, 1930 ; first edition. The last in a series of three erotic novels that trace the adventures of Frédi, an adolescent who takes up with various boys and men as he explores his own homosexuality and the customs of gay subculture. Frédi en ménage traces the protagonist’s development as the kept boy of a wealthy older Parisian. Includes a front-wrap drawing by Gaston Smit, a prolific illustrator of French erotic novels of the 1920s and 1930s, along with 10 full-page in-text steel engravings by an unidentified artist. The earlier novels are also available: Frédi à l’école : le roman d’un inverti and Frédi s’amuse.
